Kapeng Barako is the coffee that Filipinos are proud of. It was introduced in the Philippines 200 years ago by the Spaniards when it was first planted in Lipa City of Batangas. Kapeng Barako came from two different words: Kapeng or Kape that means Coffee and Barako which pertains to a bull or a wild boar which makes it a strong coffee.

According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, its tree reaches a height of 17 meters and at the same time it is a rare kind of species of coffee. It gives energy and alertness due to its caffeine content. It can help in avoiding respiratory problems like asthma. It could also help in reducing weight. It lowers the risk of gaining Type II Diabetes and helps in maintaining composure especially when you have Parkinson’s, Dementia, or Alzheimer’s disease. Overall coffee contains different chemicals that help on boosting performance of an individual and controlling one’s own emotions and feelings.
