Turmeric, also known as Indian saffron or the golden spice, is a tall plant that grows in Asia and Central America. Turmeric spices are made from the ground roots of the plant. Some culture was inspired by its yellowish color and used it as a dye. Some of the turmeric products available commercially are turmeric capsules, teas, powders, and extracts.

The active ingredient which makes up the nutritional benefits of turmeric is the curcumin. Some health benefits brought by turmeric are its anti-inflammatory properties and pain-relieving properties, improving the health of our liver, reducing cancer-risks, and improving digestion. It can also serve as anti-oxidant to our bodies. Adding turmeric in healthy and delicious recipes have been practiced by registered dietitians for a long time now. However, you should also check with your doctor before taking any supplements to ensure your safety.
